Howley Financial began the D-League season with a bang, defeating Crazees 51-31 in the first game of the night. Jack Solano’s playmaking making went a long way in Howley’s victory, as the rising sophomore tallied nine points and seven assists. Aiden Kilfeather added two threes, while Bennett Stankovitz scored eight points via an array of athletic maneuvers. On the losing end, Ryan McCann posted an impressive line of eight points and 10 rebounds. McCann controlled the boards on both sides of the ball, grabbing six offensive rebounds on the night.
Next, Red Bank Armory took down Undici, 68-57. Matt Roth provided a spark for Undici, hitting multiple threes off the dribble on the night. Jack Velcamp controlled the court defensively for Undici, and showed unbelievable intensity for his squad. Velcamp’s teammate Robbie Sypeck was also a menace on defense for Undici, swiping four steals in an impressive performance. However, it was Ryan Ruane of Red Bank Armory who had the last laugh. Despite playing against opponents as much as three years older than him, Ruane showed off his skill and ambidextrousness, finishing with both hands at the basket.
Finally, the last game of the night saw Findaballer take down MTV in a close game, 59-57. Teddy Sourlis did all he could for MTV, posting an impressive line of 15 points and eight assists. His playmaking was evident throughout the contest, especially when he connected with fellow backcourt mate Cole Staisil. Staisil was impressive from deep, hitting three three-pointers to begin the game en route to a 12 point night. Andrew Demarco provided a presence for MTV down low with six points, but ultimately MTV was no match for Elijah McAllister. McAllister carried Findaballer, manhandling his opponent to the tune of 16 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks. Drew Shaw showed off his range and added a couple of threes for Findaballer, and his squad walked away with the victory.
