The days of being a senior in high school are quickly coming to an end. Maybe you only have a week of finals left, maybe you already graduated, or maybe you’ve just attended your senior prom. In any case, you’re looking forward to your future as a college freshman, wherever you have chosen to go.
Whether you’re playing basketball or not, FindaBaller wants to be sure that you’re prepared in any circumstance that you may find yourself in this coming year. So here are a top few tips for your first year of being an “adult.”
Be Prepared to Be Confused! College, no matter how big or small, is vastly different from your high school set up. College campuses can be confusing. We know that we’ve gotten lost on our college campuses before. But don’t fret! Just like the halls of high school were intimidating at first until the day when you mastered them like a pro, so too are college campuses. Don’t be afraid to explore!
Get (and Stay) Involved! For those of you who are planning on playing basketball or another college sport, congrats! You’ve got a built in set of buddies. For those of you who aren’t going that route, be sure to stay involved. Whether it’s playing a game of pick up basketball, playing on the intramural team, or covering the basketball team for the school newspaper, it’s important to get involved and stay involved to make the most out of your college experience.
Be Responsible! It may feel like you’re gaining freedom from your parents, but know that with that freedom comes responsibility. Responsibility for your actions, your school work, and your laundry. Unlike high school, professors are going to leave it up to YOU to take care of your work. No one is going to force you to do anything so be sure to remain diligent – it will pay off!
Those are our top three tips for college freshmen. If you still have questions regarding college sports, college academics, or even applying to colleges (for you underclassmen or soon to be seniors), FindaBaller is always here for you! Just send us an e-mail!
