Here are highlights from the JSBL:
NJ Tarheels came out trying to get their third win since joining the Jersey Shore Basketball League in 2011, against Sterns Trailer, the number two team in league. The Tarheels looked as though they had a chance when at half-time they were playing well and were only down seven, with the score being 54-47. Coming into the second half, Sterns Trailer stepped up their game play and never looked back as Darnell Wilks started off the half with a fadeaway jumper from the elbow over Zach Tillman to begin their run. Sterns Trailer had four players score over twenty with that being Dion Nesmith and Neil Thompson with 24 points, Corey Soanes with 21 points and Jerome Hubbard with 20, Thompson also added 10 assists. The Tarheels had the leading scorers of the game as Thomas Bonacum scored 38 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out 5 assists while Daniel Knight finished with 26. The final score was Sterns Trailer 125 to NJ Tarheels 109.
The last game of the week was Horn Law Group against T&T Coast. T&T Coast has yet to win a game but play their opponents very close and this ended up being another game coming down to the last second. Hendershot of T&T Coast finished with 33 points and 11 rebounds, trying everything in his power to pull a win out for his team. Horn Law Group, the number 1 team in the league were just too much for T&T Coast, as Collin Stewart finished with 26 points, which includes 7 threes and 2 dunks. Joe Willman and Ricky Stephens were huge contributors as well, with Willman finishing with a triple-double having 25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists while Stephens added 32 points knocking down 4 threes. The final score ended up being 121-118, Horn Law Group staying at the top spot.
