Jay Dooley Memorial Tournament An Overwhelming Success

The Jay Dooley Memorial 3 on 3 Tournament turned out to be an overwhelming success, as the atmosphere, talent, and weather on the final day helped set the tone for a great two-day event. On Friday night, rain forced the tournament inside, as they were only able to use the two courts allotted in the indoor gym. While this could be seen as a negative, the atmosphere created by the indoor facility game the tournament a nice kickoff. With several team watching the two games on two courts right next to each other created a great game day atmosphere.

On Saturday, weather permitted the tournament to be outside, at its usual location, while also utilizing all the courts. While weather in the past has been extremely hot, the weather Saturday morning was sunny, mid 70’s with hardly any clouds in the sky. In other words, it was the perfect way to cap off a great two days of basketball. Another thing that elevated the success of this year’s tournament was the increase in competition throughout the entire tournament. Many more overseas and current college basketball players participated in the event. At the end of the tournament, the goal was reached, and enough money was raised to help the Holy Cross community.

Co-Founders of FindaBaller Inc., Blake Hamilton and Dwayne Byfield,  both played basketball with Jay Dooley at Monmouth University, which gives this tournament has a special meaning to our company. Since being named 2004 NEC Tournament MVP and NEC Player of the Year in 2005, Blake has stayed in the area helping local Monmouth County children by developing not only basketball skills, but neccesary life skills as well.
